When Emily Hawryschuk tore her ACL early this spring season, questions swirled as to whether or not we had seen the last of the Tewaaraton-caliber attacker in a Syracuse uniform.

Two months later, we have the answer. Hawryschuk will be back.

Syracuse’s No. 51 announced on her social media platforms Wednesday afternoon that she will use her sixth year of eligibility to play a final season in the Carrier Dome for Gary Gait.

Hawryschuk’s teammates have been excellent in her stead, maintaining the No. 3 ranking in the Nike / US Lacrosse Division I Women's Top 20. Her injury has allowed players like Megan Carney, Meaghan Tyrrell, Sam Swart, Sierra Cockerille and freshman star Emma Ward to shine.

But Gait will certainly welcome the all-time program great back into the fold in 2022. The Victor, N.Y., product has scored 197 goals with 41 assists in her career. She has also controlled 125 draws.
