Syracuse women's lacrosse star Emilly Hawryschuk announced on her social media accounts Thursday evening that she will miss the remainder of the season with an ACL injury. She sustained the tear to her knee in a practice before Saturday's contest against Stony Brook in the Carrier Dome.

US Lacrosse Magazine first reported that Hawryschuk's injury was to her ACL.

One of the most dynamic talents in lacrosse, Hawryschuk was a shoe-in to be a finalist for the 2021 Tewaaraton Award. She might have even been the favorite. The graduate student missed that game against Stony Brook, meaning she will have only played one game this year.

In her team's 18-6 drubbing of Loyola, Hawryschuk scored four goals with one assist. In her Syracuse career, Hawryschuk has scored 197 goals with 41 assists while also being a force on the draw circle with 125 career draws.

Syracuse, ranked second nationally, certainly has the firepower to compete, but losing Hawryschuk is a devastating loss for a team with national championship aspirations.
