Syracuse senior Emily Hawryschuk announced Friday afternoon on Twitter that she will take advantage of the NCAA's eligibility waiver to return to the Orange in 2021.

One of the best players in the sport, Hawryschuk was setting herself up for a likely trip to Washington, D.C., in May for the Tewaaraton Award presentation. The attacker from Victor, N.Y., had 39 goals and seven assists through eight games — a blistering 4.9 goals per game.

After earning a spot on the All-ACC First Team as a sophomore, Hawryschuk took a leap forward as a junior, earning IWLCA first-team All-American honors after a campaign in which she scored 75 goals with 19 assists.

Syracuse, ranked fifth in the last Nike/US Lacrosse Division I Women's Top 20 before the season was canceled due to COVID-19, had Championship Weekend aspirations. With Hawryschuk back in the fold, it appears as if the Orange will have another shot in 2021.
