A cheap shot in the substitution box and ensuing scuffle during Saturday’s Albany-Binghamton men’s lacrosse game has resulted in the suspensions of eight players, the America East announced Monday after a thorough review of the incident.
Binghamton’s Nicholas Imburgia will serve a two-game suspension. Patrick Murad, Jarrett Piccione, Kyle Tiernan and Max Verch each got one game, as did Albany’s Elijah Gash, Tehoka Nanticoke and Steve Ramirez. Albany’s suspensions are particularly noteworthy, as the Great Danes will now be without their best player (Nanticoke) and a starting defenseman (Gash) against UMass this afternoon.
In the below video, you can see the late hit near the substitution box that presumably sparked some ill will between the two America East teams.

Both benches then began chirping before a fight broke out on the sidelines.
Have no idea what spurred this, but there seemed to be a bit of a disagreement up in Bingo last weekend? #CollegeLaxSaturday pic.twitter.com/yAI0AMXbB7

“Both the UAlbany and Binghamton men’s lacrosse programs have been issued a public reprimand for their conduct, which is in violation of America East’s bylaws and policies on sporting conduct,” the conference said in a release.
“All parties are hereby put on notice that any future unsporting conduct shall be subject to additional disciplinary measures.”
