American Athletic Conference
Cincinnati
The Bearcats are the clear No. 2 team in the conference, but that doesn’t mean a ton when Florida is as stacked as it is. Cincinnati plays the Gators at home on April 18 to see if it can close the gap. See Cincinnati’s full schedule here.
East Carolina
A triple-OT loss to Campbell marked what could have been an exciting win for the Pirates, but ECU gets another shot at the Camels on Feb. 22. See East Carolina’s full schedule here.
Florida
Four of Florida’s first five games of the season come against teams ranked in the Nike/US Lacrosse Preseason Division I Women's Top 20. Coming right after what’s sure to be a tough road challenge at defending national champion Maryland, this matchup between the Gators and Loyola should show a lot about both teams. In 2019, the No. 16 Greyhounds pulled off the 15-12 upset of then-No. 5 Florida, and the Gators never climbed that high in the polls again. See Florida’s full schedule here.
Temple
The Owls twice scored nine goals against Cincinnati, falling short both times (including the conference semifinals). Temple gets another chance to solve Cincy on April 25. See Temple’s full schedule here.
UConn
For the fourth year in a row, the Huskies play James Madison at US Lacrosse Headquarters’ Tierney Field in Sparks, Md. This one’s on Feb. 16. See UConn’s full schedule here.
Vanderbilt
The Commodores earned a nice win over an ACC school in Louisville in 2019, and they’ll see if they can make it two in a row against the team on Feb. 25. See Vanderbilt’s full schedule here.
America East
Albany
The Great Danes are winless in their last 12 meetings against Stony Brook and 5-15 against them overall. They play on April 10 in what could also be an America East tournament preview. See Albany’s full schedule here.
Binghamton
It was a tough 2019 for Binghamton, which went 2-15. The Bearcats lost by just one goal to UMBC, and this year’s rematch on April 1 is worth watching. See Binghamton’s full schedule here.
Hartford
Hartford has only beaten Delaware State in its two-year history, but Delaware State isn’t on the 2020 schedule. Hartford’s matchup against Binghamton could bring the program’s first-ever conference win. See Hartford’s full schedule here.
New Hampshire
The Wildcats went 5-2 in conference play last spring but fell 20-16 in a conference semifinal to Albany. The rematch comes on April 1. See New Hampshire’s full schedule here.
Stony Brook
For Joe Spallina to properly assess his team, a matchup at Florida on Feb. 29 will be integral. The Seawolves open at Syracuse and then host Ohio State before a two-week break during which Spallina can tinker and fix any issues. Stony Brook is 1-6 all-time against Florida. Two losses came by one goal. See Stony Brook’s full schedule here.
UMass Lowell
The Riverhawks head to North Andover to play Merrimack, a program just elevated to Division I, on March 17. Last season, the teams played and UMass Lowell won, 15-8. See UMass Lowell’s full schedule here.
UMBC
Last season’s non-conference tilt against Bucknell was a thriller, although UMBC came out on the wrong end in an 11-10 double-overtime loss. UMBC plays Bucknell again on Feb. 26. See UMBC’s full schedule here.
Vermont
UMBC bested Vermont, 14-13, thanks to a late rally last spring, and Vermont’s final tuneup before a potential America East tournament push this season comes against UMBC on April 25. See Vermont’s full schedule here.
Atlantic 10
Davidson
Davidson just missed out on finishing above .500. A 16-15 OT loss to VCU in the penultimate game of the season dashed those hopes. Davidson plays VCU this year on April 18 — the season’s final game. See Davidson’s full schedule here.
Duquesne
Duquesne forced OT after facing a seven-goal deficit last season against UMass but ultimately lost, 16-15. This year, the sides play on March 22. See Duquesne’s full schedule here.
George Mason
A one-goal win over Duquesne in A-10 play last year helped George Mason earn a conference tournament bid. On April 18, George Mason’s final regular season game in 2020, Duquesne comes to town for another matchup with potential playoff implications. See George Mason’s full schedule here.
George Washington
On April 15, George Washington plays UMBC in a non-conference matchup that could prove beneficial if George Washington sneaks its way into the conference playoff picture. See George Washington's full schedule here.
La Salle
La Salle handled LIU Brooklyn with ease last spring, but now that LIU’s Brookville and Brooklyn campuses have merged into one Division I program, will the result be the same? La Salle plays LIU on March 7. See La Salle’s full schedule here.
Richmond
A stellar freshman class and a strong returning core have Richmond as a potential team to enter the national rankings this spring. The Spiders play George Washington on April 5 in a game that should be telling. See Richmond’s full schedule here.
Saint Joseph’s
Saint Joseph’s lost a close contest to Navy in the second game of last season, and Navy comes to town for the second game of this season, too. It all goes down on Feb. 12. See Saint Joseph’s’ full schedule here.
St. Bonaventure
The Bonnies’ only win last season came against Kent State. They’ll play Kent State again on Feb. 21. See St. Bonaventure’s full schedule here.
UMass
Anytime UMass plays Richmond, it’s sure to be a thriller. The sides traded one-goal wins last spring, but Richmond earned the victory that mattered in the conference tournament. They play again on April 11. See UMass’ full schedule here.
VCU
VCU earned three conference wins last spring, two by just one goal. One of which came against Davidson in OT. VCU and Davidson play on April 18 this season. See VCU’s full schedule here.
Atlantic Coast Conference
Boston College
Last May, Boston College and North Carolina played perhaps the best women’s lacrosse game of all time in the NCAA tournament semifinals. Boston College won 15-14 in double-overtime when Sam Apuzzo found the back of the net. This after the Eagles erased a 7-1 first-half deficit. Anytime these two ACC rivals play, it’s must-see TV. Tune in on March 28. See Boston College’s full schedule here.
Duke
Will there be a Charlotte North “revenge game” against her former team? With North now at Boston College, it’ll be a major talking point heading into the March 21 contest between these ACC rivals. See Duke’s full schedule here.
Louisville
Louisville lost a non-conference contest to Delaware by just one goal, and the Blue Hens are back on the 2020 schedule for March 12. See Louisville’s full schedule here.
North Carolina
Sure, the game against Boston College is key, but so is the April 11 tilt against Syracuse. Ranked Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, in the Nike/US Lacrosse Preseason Division I Women’s Top 20, North Carolina and Syracuse should give lacrosse funs a must-watch showdown. See North Carolina’s full schedule here.
Notre Dame
Duke stunned Notre Dame in the ACC tournament, leaving the Irish chomping at the bit for a rematch. That comes March 1 in South Bend. See Notre Dame’s full schedule here.
Syracuse
Even with so many pivotal ACC matchups to watch, Syracuse’s most exciting game could come in non-conference play against Northwestern on Feb. 22. Last season, Syracuse edged Northwestern, 15-14. Not to mention that this is a potential championship weekend preview. See Syracuse’s full schedule here.
Virginia
The Cavaliers lost twice to UNC — 13-12 in the regular season and 14-7 in the NCAA tournament — so they’re hoping for another shot at the top-ranked preseason team. That comes on Feb. 29. See Virginia’ full schedule here.
Virginia Tech
The Hokies bested Louisville in a close one-goal game last season, even though Louisville struggled throughout the spring. Feb. 29’s game against Louisville will be a good indicator of how much the Hokies have improved. See Virginia Tech’s full schedule here.
Atlantic Sun Conference
Akron
It’s a whole new world for the Zips, who enter the fray this season as new varsity competitors. It might be a tough go in their first year, but an April 19 game against Jacksonville — perennial conference favorites — will be a good barometer for where Akron is. See Akron’s full schedule here.
Coastal Carolina
The Chanticleers lost twice to Liberty — once by one goal and once by 10 in the conference tournament — so it’s probable that Coastal Carolina has circled a March 31 date with its conference foe. See Coastal Carolina’s full schedule here.
Howard
Howard’s closest game in 2019 came against Delaware State, and the teams play again on March 1. See Howard’s full schedule here.
Jacksonville
Having lost to in-state foe Florida last season, Jacksonville could be motivated for some revenge. Two athletic teams square off on April 22, Jacksonville’s final game — one that very well could impact its NCAA tournament resume. See Jacksonville’s full schedule here.
Kennesaw State
Throttled by Jacksonville twice in 2019 — a combined 44-11 margin — Kennesaw State wants to close that gap in 2020. These teams play on March 13. See Kennesaw State’s full schedule here.
Kent State
Kent State struggled through most of 2019, but earned a conference win over Howard. They play again March 20. See Kent State’s full schedule here.
Liberty
Liberty’s schedule is very strong. The Flames play non-conference road contests against Richmond, James Madison and Notre Dame, not to mention a home game against High Point on March 21. See Liberty’s full schedule here.
Stetson
Long Island U.’s first-year Division I program heads to Deland, Fla., on March 12 for what could be a high-energy matchup with two teams hungry to establish themselves. See Stetson’s full schedule here.
Big East
Butler
Butler earned one of its three wins in 2019 against Kent State, and the two programs square off again on Feb. 28. See Butler’s full schedule here.
Denver
A March 15 contest at Michigan serves as a rematch of last year’s NCAA tournament game. In the defensive battle, the Pioneers outlasted the Wolverines, 9-5, to advance to the first NCAA quarterfinal in program history. Expectations are high for both programs after history-making seasons. See Denver’s full schedule here.
Georgetown
The Hoyas won only once last year when trailing at halftime, and it came when they rallied from an 8-4 deficit for a 9-8 double-overtime win over Denver in the Big East championship game. The two preeminent Big East teams split last year and will again vie for conference supremacy. The play on April 4. See Georgetown’s full schedule here.
Marquette
Marquette’s season ended against Georgetown in the Big East tournament. These teams played consecutive games thanks to the schedule-makers, perhaps establishing something of a rivalry. They play again on April 11. See Marquette’s full schedule here.
Old Dominion
Old Dominion scored five unanswered goals in the second half to beat Longwood last season, easily one of the high points of the 2019 campaign. These teams play again on Feb. 29 in Farmville, Va. See Old Dominion’s full schedule here.
Villanova
Villanova earned a solid non-conference win over Cornell in 2019 and plays the Big Red again on Feb. 15. See Villanova’s full schedule here.
Big South
Campbell
The Camels beat East Carolina in a triple-OT thriller in 2019, and these teams rematch on Feb. 22. Will there be similar fireworks? See Campbell’s full schedule here.
Gardner-Webb
Gardner-Webb gets a first look at a brand new Division I team, Akron, on Feb. 22 at home. See Gardner-Webb’s full schedule here.
High Point
The Big South hasn't tested High Point nearly as much as out-of-conference games in recent seasons, and an early test against James Madison will go far in showing the Panthers’ potential. The last time that JMU visited, High Point hung close before falling, 13-11. See High Point’s full schedule here.
Longwood
The Lancers beat Winthrop in the regular season, 14-4, but then lost to Winthrop in the conference semifinals, 12-9. That’s a huge disparity in outcome, and Longwood is certainly anxious to get another shot at Winthrop. That happens on April 15. See Longwood’s full schedule here.
Presbyterian
Presbyterian earned its only win in 2019 against Delaware State, and they’ll play again on March 13. See Presbyterian’s full schedule here.
Radford
After falling to Robert Morris in overtime last season, Radford and Robert Morris meet again on March 3. Will it be a similar result? See Radford’s full schedule here.
Winthrop
The Eagles twice allowed High Point to score 17 goals — both losses. The second meeting came in the Big South title game. They meet again April 5. See Winthrop’s full schedule here.
Big Ten
Johns Hopkins
The Blue Jays have lost the last four meetings against Stony Brook and have fallen to 3-5 all-time against the Seawolves. The games tend to be close, so this could be a fun end-of-season non-conference contest on April 20. See Johns Hopkins’ full schedule here.
Maryland
Maryland heads to North Carolina on Feb. 22.The former ACC rivals have played some incredible games over the years, including a 13-12 double-overtime thriller last year in College Park. This year’s game could show where Maryland is early on and just how good it could be by season’s end. See Maryland’s full schedule here.
Michigan
Denver visits Ann Arbor on March 15 for the teams’ third matchup in 13 months. They split in 2019, with Michigan winning at Denver and the Pioneers returning fire in the NCAA tournament’s second round at Michigan. The Wolverines’ 2019 sweep of the Colorado schools led to their magical season. By mid-March, we’ll know how powerful Michigan can be in 2020. See Michigan’s full schedule here.
Northwestern
On March 26, Northwestern heads to Maryland. The two squads met three times in 2019 — first in the regular season; next in the Big Ten Tournament final, which the Wildcats claimed for the first time ever; and then in the final four, which Maryland won on its way to a national title. Each team graduated its Tewaaraton finalist — Selena Lasota for the Wildcats, and eventual winner Megan Taylor for the Terrapins — but Kelly Amonte Hiller and Cathy Reese know better than anyone how to reload. See Northwestern’s full schedule here.
Ohio State
With Amy Bokker at the helm, the Buckeyes could improve in 2020. The first order of business is to improve the team’s 1-5 conference record from a year ago. Having beaten Rutgers, the Buckeyes’ closest conference loss came against Johns Hopkins, so perhaps that’s the next goal. They’ll play on March 14. See Ohio State’s full schedule here.
Penn State
Albany is an interesting non-conference test on April 21. The Great Danes return essentially all of its players from last season (outside of one transfer), and have a decent chance at being America East contenders — making this a quality matchup for the Nittany Lions. See Penn State’s full schedule here.
Rutgers
The Scarlet Knights earned an exciting overtime win over Delaware in 2019, and they play the Blue Hens again on Feb. 15. See Rutgers’ full schedule here.
