Another week of Division III action is behind us, and with that, another chunk of teams have started their journeys in 2022. There were not a lot of shake ups in the top 20 this week, but there were a few close calls.
We also got our first look at Salisbury and RIT this weekend. Every top 5 team, except for Tufts, has now played at least one game.
Christopher Newport slipped a few spots after needing a second-half comeback on the road against Randolph-Macon College. The Captains trailed by two at halftime and scored 11 goals in the second half to walk away with the win. They didn’t have a lead in the game until the third quarter.
NESCAC teams, along with St. John Fisher, SUNY Cortland, John Carroll and St. Lawrence, are the only ranked teams who haven’t started their seasons.

Lynchburg (+1)
In Lynchburg’s first two games, the Hornets have scored an astounding 51 goals from 19 different goal scorers. Also of note, their defense has only allowed three goals despite four different goalies seeing time. The first true test for the Hornets arrives next Saturday when they host No. 9 Cabrini.

The Spartans opened the season with a win, but it was a nailbiter. A 4-1 run in the fourth quarter was enough to lift York to a one-goal win against Washington and Lee on Saturday.

Dickinson (No. 20)
Opening with a ranked win against Stevens was enough to push Dickinson into the Top 20. The Red Devils were led by Owen Porter, who scored four goals on Saturday. Goalie Chris Brandau, a Maryland transfer, was as good as it gets between the pipes with 24 saves.

Stevens (was No. 11)
Stevens was held to just six goals on Saturday in a loss to Dickinson. It was a slow start for the Ducks, who went 1-for-5 on extra man opportunities, failed five clears and was just 7-for-19 on faceoffs. They have two winnable games ahead before they take on top-ranked Salisbury on March 2.
