Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. The Team USA Fall Classic women’s roster was named Monday by head coach Jenny Levy. It includes 12 of 18 players that won gold with the 2017 U.S. World Cup team, as well as several recent college graduates.
“Our coaching staff is excited for our first training camp and to coach this talented group of athletes,” Levy said. “By 2021, our goal is to work with at least 80 players to build a hardworking, exciting and cohesive team to represent the USWNT in the next World Cup.”
The U.S. will play James Madison in the Oct. 6 event at US Lacrosse headquarters in Levy’s coaching debut.
2. Shayna Pirreca, a 2018 Florida graduate and All-American attacker, was named an assistant at Wagner on Monday. She played for recently named Seahawk head coach Michelle Tumolo for two seasons while she was an assistant at Florida.
"Shaynahas played at the highest level and is a extremely talented and hard working. I had the pleasure of coaching her while I was at Florida, and I truly have never seen someone work as hard as her.
Also in the coaching carousel Monday, Detroit Mercy named Megan Callahan, a 2013 Titan alum, its new women’s lacrosse coach. She was an assistant for the program the past two seasons.
