Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. The New York Riptide selected Tyson Gibson (Robert Morris) first overall in the 2019 NLL Entry Draft, hosted in Philadelphia. The new franchise made 11 picks on Tuesday night, including Tyson Bomberry at No. 10.

Ryland Rees (Stony Brook) went to Rochester and Andrew Kew (Tampa) to New England to round out the top 3 picks.

Riptide also picked up Gale Thorpe, son of coach Regy Thorpe, at pick No. 33 in the second round and PLL star Connor Farrell at pick No. 24. Also Tuesday, the Riptide unveiled their fresh jerseys.

2. Matt Striebel was honored to be a member of the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame Class of 2019 — even more so knowing he'd be going in with teammate Ryan Boyle. The two paired for a season at Princeton, then with the U.S. national team and after their playing career at Trilogy.

Striebel, like Boyle, was great in his own right. He won two national titles at Princeton, two world championships (2006, 2014) and three MLL titles with the Philadelphia Barrage. His Hall of Fame nod is well-deserved, and he continues to give back to the game today.

3. The U.S. indoor national team has arrived in Langley, British Columbia for the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship.

The team, led by coach Regy Thorpe, practiced last night at Langley Events Centre and will take part in opening ceremonies today.

One of Team USA’s stars, Blaze Riorden, is back for another shot at the world championship. The Rochester native shared his box lacrosse story in the September/October edition of US Lacrosse Magazine.
