Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. After what he called a “pretty grueling month,” McCabe Millon announced yesterday his commitment to play collegiately at Duke.

IL’s Ty Xanders first reported the news. The No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2023 according to IL, Millon scored 28 goals and 26 assists this season at the McDonogh School (Md.). Despite missing the summer circuit due to a hand injury, Millon’s status as the best player in the class wavered little.

The oldest son of National Lacrosse Hall of Famers Mark and Erin Brown Millon, McCabe Millon’s game possesses a polish beyond his years. In his announcement on his Instagram, he thanked Premier Lacrosse League Attackman of the Year and 2019 Tewaaraton finalist Grant Ament, who Millon described as a mentor and a big brother back in 2019.

The similarities between their styles are hard to miss.

Millon’s announcement marks the third time in four years that Duke has landed the No. 1 overall recruit in the class.

2. Yale lacrosse mourned the passing of alum Ned Smith, who lost his battle with brain cancer on September 25 after being diagnosed in 2018. He was 40 years old.

“A warrior to the end — though he would say brain cancer was never for him a fight, but a journey,” reads his obituary. A professor of Management and Organizations at Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management since 2013, Smith is survived by his wife, Erin, and their four children.

“I do not believe that everything happens for a reason,” he wrote in his LinkedIn bio. “I do believe that our greatest gift is our ability to derive reason and make meaning from our experiences. I believe that empathic human interaction is the basis of most things that are good and sustainable.”

3. Justin Feil spoke with several Ivy League coaches to help describe the state of the conference with a look toward 2022.

Despite a mostly normal looking fall, questions still linger. “I think it’s a colossal unknown,” Yale men’s coach Andy Shay said.

4. Matt Rambo signed a new one year deal with the Philadelphia Wings.

5. St. Thomas University (STU) director of athletics Bill Rychel announced the addition of women’s lacrosse to the athletic roster on Tuesday, the university announced. STU Women’s Lacrosse will compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
