1. One day after the announcement of the new Premier Lacrosse League, Major League Lacrosse issued a statement demonstrating the backing of its corporate sponsors and its commitment to moving forward.

The New York Lizards and Ohio Machine also weighed in highlighting their commitment to the communities in which their teams are housed.

2. Meanwhile, the PLL continued to move full speed ahead. Paul Rabil and his brother, Mike, visited the the New York Stock Exchange to talk about the new league.

• The US Lacrosse Board of Directors has approved equipment-related rule changes designed to enhance heart protection for youth players, specifically to reduce the risk of the rare yet potentially catastrophic injury of commotio cordis.

• Boston College will likely open the 2019 season as the No. 1 team in women’s lacrosse. A look at the Eagles heading into a big fall exhibition game against Northwestern.

• A veteran Towson squad is looking to surpass defending NCAA champion James Madison in the Colonial Athletic Association, and the Tigers should be battle-tested when the CAA schedule begins. Towson released its 2019 schedule yesterday and the season begins with five straight games against 2018 NCAA tournament teams.

• Longtime US Lacrosse volunteer Mary Hopkins is bringing some fun to the club team at Central Florida.

• The NLL season is approaching, but another labor dispute could alter some positive offseason momentum.

• Cool story on Harley Beekman helping combine his love of lacrosse with a commitment to helping others.

• Former U.S. U19 goalie Rachel Vallerelli, who played at UMass and now for the Baltimore Ride in the UWLX, is the new head coach at Greenwich (Conn.) High School.
