Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. North Carolina alumna Emily Parros is back in Chapel Hill.

The NCAA champion and U.S. national team midfielder was named an assistant coach with the Tar Heels’ women’s lacrosse program on Tuesday. Since graduating from UNC in 2013, Parros spent a year coaching high school lacrosse in Florida before spending two years with James Madison and four years with East Carolina.

2. In other coach news, Nicholas Marks has joined Bellarmine as the defensive coordinator.

Marks spent the past three years as the head coach at Whittier College, helping the Poets to a 21-11 record during his tenure. In 2019, Whittier set a single-season program record for wins with 13.

3. On Monday evening, Rebecca Streeten was named the women’s lacrosse head coach at Alfred University.

Prior to joining Alfred as the program’s 10th head coach, Streeten spent 2019-20 as head coach at Elmira. Prior to that, she was an assistant at Colby College.

More here from The Evening Tribune.

4. Mark Blaise is stepping down as Benedictine head coach.

James Howey of the Atchison Globe writes that Blaise will leave Benedictine after two seasons with the NAIA program. Athletic director Charlie Gartenmayer said a national search will begin immediately for the next head coach.

5. Even NCAA coaches are surprised at the speed of verbal commitments.

September first was roughly six weeks ago, and coaches expect the trend of quick commitments to Division I programs to continue. Based on data received by Inside Lacrosse, 264 players from the Class of 2022 have already committed to 53 programs — about four times more players than the equivalent number for the Class of 2021.

The results of the survey, as well as reactions from some high-profile coaches, are well worth the read. Check it out here.
