Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. The NLL is expected to make a “major announcement” today, but “not a good one,” according to Jake Elliott, host of the Lacrosse Classified podcast by LaxAllStars. His tweet sparked a thread that posed several questions.
If this announcement is made, it will come nine days after league commissioner Nick Sakiewicz wrote a letter to Professional Lacrosse Players Association president Peter Schmitz, which noted that the start of the season was in jeopardy. Then on Nov. 15, the NLL and PLPA failed to reach an agreement, causing the first two weekends of the season to be cancelled.
Yesterday, Elliott posted a podcast with Toronto Rock owner Jamie Dawick, who chimed in on the NLL-PLPA CBA negotiations, saying “we’re on life support.”
2. Dr. Karen Sutton, the physician for the U.S. women’s team, FIL chief medical officer, orthopedic surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery and former Duke captain, shared bonus gym rats tips Tuesday, complete with video demonstrations.
With the assistance of Blue Streak trainers Desmond Hinds and Alex Joseph, Sutton focused on three key exercises that help with injury prevention – Bulgarian split squats, physio ball pikes and pogo passes.
3. Merrimack’s Charlie Bertrand is featured in the November edition’s Give and Go interview. He thinks Jennifer Aniston “ages like fine wine” and his older brothers were his biggest obstacle when he was younger.
4. There’s growth in the Garden State, especially in the Asbury Park (N.J.) School District.
