Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. NCAA champion Virginia earned the No. 1 ranking in the final Nike/US Lacrosse Division I Men’s Top 20. Maryland and Notre Dame also got a lift out of their postseason performances.
2. NCAA champion Maryland earned the No. 1 ranking in the final Nike/US Lacrosse Division I Women’s Top 20, with Boston College and North Carolina right behind the Terps as the trio that endured at the top for nearly the entire season.
3. The USILA unveiled the final coaches polls for Division I, Division II and Division III men’s lacrosse.
4. The IWLCA unveiled the final coaches polls for Division I, Division II and Division III women’s lacrosse.
5. Kyle Harrison says the advent of the Premier Lacrosse League breathed new life into his professional career. Harrison, the Redwoods LC midfielder and latest guest of Paul Carcaterra on the US Lacrosse Magazine-produced “Overtime” podcast, admits he may only have two or three seasons left in his 36-year-old legs. 6. Amber Falcone McKenzie opened up about balancing motherhood and lacrosse. After leading the Commando the inaugural WPLL title as a defender, she’ll be an assistant coach this season while pregnant with her second child. She’s not done playing yet.
7. Major League Lacrosse opened up its player pool to previously undrafted college seniors or players whose eligibility expired during the 2019 season. Among notable acquisitions Tuesday were Penn’s Simon Mathias (Atlanta), Towson’s Timmy Monahan (Atlanta), Notre Dame’s Ryder Garnsey (Boston), Rutgers’ Max Edelmann (Chesapeake) and UMass’ Sean Sconone (Dallas).
8. “All In,” a Premier Lacrosse League documentary chronicling the league’s inaugural training camp, will air Saturday at 1 a.m. and 1 p.m. Eastern on NBC Sports — the same day and channel for the PLL opener at Gillette Stadium.
