Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Another coveted transfer has reportedly chosen where he’ll play next season.
Charlie Bertrand, who won a Division II championship with Merrimack in 2019 and helped the team transition to Division I this season, will transfer to Virginia, according to Inside Lacrosse.
2. The Premier Lacrosse League announced a partnership with Genius Sports Group, allowing live betting on the PLL Championship Series this summer. Mike and Paul Rabil view this as a necessary step toward enhancing the in-game fan experience.
3. The Mid-American Conference is set to add women’s lacrosse next season, but the conference will reportedly eliminate the women’s lacrosse postseason conference tournament in a cost-cutting measure due to COVID-19.
Women’s lacrosse is one of eight sports in the conference to lose out on a postseason tournament. Baseball, softball, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s tennis and field hockey are the others.
4. A pair of Major League Lacrosse draft picks have signed with their respective teams.
Miles Silva (Army) inked a deal with the Denver Outlaws, and Will Weitzel (Yale) signed with the Chesapeake Bayhawks.
5. Both Jack Rusbuldt and Kevin Todd will return for the Richmond men in 2021.
Rusbuldt made 90 saves in seven games this season, recording a .556 save percentage. Todd tallied three goals and two assists.
6. Two seniors are going back to Colorado.
Anna Collawn and Julia Lisella have chosen to take advantage of the extra year of eligibility. Collawn has played all over the field for the Buffs but has recently settled in as a defender. Lisella is a three-year starter between the pipes.
