Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1.  A five-goal lead in the fourth quarter almost wasn’t enough as Syracuse held off a late charge to edge previously unbeaten Loyola 14-13 in women’s lacrosse on Tuesday night. Loyola appeared to have tied the game with 12 seconds left, but a charging call negated the goal.

Emma Tyrrell had four goals and three assists for Syracuse and Jillian Wilson scored three of her four goals for Loyola in the fourth quarter.

In other Top 20 women’s action on Tuesday, Stony Brook scored the first seven goals of the game in a 16-8 win over Princeton and Duke used a four-goal run in the second half to edge Liberty 8-7 for its 12th victory of the season.

2. There were just two Division I men’s games on Tuesday with C.J. Kirst scoring six goals as Cornell beat Colgate 16-9 and Christian Mule scoring six goals in Lehigh’s 12-10 win over Binghamton. In Division III, Don Donahue made a career-best 16 saves as unbeaten Union beat unbeaten Tufts 17-12 in a Top 10 matchup.

3. After an injury-plagued 2021 season at Notre Dame, Andie Aldave is thriving as a graduate student for No. 1 ranked North Carolina.

4. A great snippet (this means turn your sound up) from John Galloway about the 2018 world championship. Listen to him here, and the whole Overtime podcast with Paul Carcaterra.

5. Since the advent of the shot clock in Division I men’s lacrosse, the average number of total possessions per game has risen by 10. That’s one nugget in Zack Capozzi’s Beyond the Basics from Lacrosse Reference this week.

6. One of the trends in NCAA Division I women’s lacrosse over the last five years? More players seeing the field. Zack Capozzi with more from Lacrosse Reference.

7. Duke All-American midfielder Nakeie Montgomery, who played football for the Blue Devils in the fall, ran a 4.46 40-yard dash during his pro day workouts for NFL scouts.

8. There are seven new teams in the Nike/USA Lacrosse National Girls’ High School Top 25, including American Heritage-Delray (Fla.), which upset Bayport-Blue Point in a game at Tierney Field on the USA Lacrosse campus last week.

9. Three wins, including a big win over Culver (Ind.), have surged Gonzaga (D.C.) to No. 5 in the Nike/USA Lacrosse National Boys’ High School Top 25.
