Good morning. Here's the latest from the lacrosse world:

1. It’s finally here.

The World Lacrosse Women’s Championship begins later today at Towson University in Towson, Md. A record 30 nations will participate in the tournament, which ends July 9.

Opening ceremonies are set for 4:15 p.m. Eastern, with the first — and only — game on Wednesday’s slate coming at 7 p.m. between the U.S. and Canada.

2. Charlotte North, Ally Mastroianni and Emma Trenchard have officially signed with Athletes Unlimited.

All selected in last month’s AU Lacrosse College Draft, they’re ready to participate in AU Season 2 after their run with the U.S. women’s national team ends. The second season of Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse begins July 21 with all games taking place at USA Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md.

3. North and Logan Wisnauskas have both been nominated for ESPYS.

The 2022 Tewaaraton Award winners are in the running for best Best College Athlete, Women’s Sports and Best College Athlete, Men’s Sports, respectively.

4. Roy Simmons III is retiring from Syracuse lacrosse.

After more than three decades with the program, the son of the legendary Roy Simmons Jr. is retiring, via the Associated Press. He concludes his 31-year run as the program’s director of operations.

His retirement on Friday concludes a full century in which one member of the Simmons family has been involved with the program.
