Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. The Colonial Athletic Association made official Tuesday its plans to add Hampton, Monmouth and Stony Brook as members beginning July 1, 2022 — a decision with widespread ramifications on the college lacrosse landscape.

Stony Brook women’s lacrosse coach Joe Spallina called it “a power move by our department.”  The Seawolves have dominated the America East for the last decade. They’ve won eight straight conference tournament titles and have a 55-2 conference record since 2012.

“We have had a historic run in the America East and will look to finish that run,” Spallina said in the statement posted by the team on social media, “but we are so ready to up the ante and dive head first into the CAA, a multi-bid league in our sport.”

Stony Brook men’s lacrosse coach Anthony Gilardi was previously an assistant for nine years at Towson, a CAA school. He called it “a league with a great tradition in lacrosse.”

“It is going to be fun creating new regional rivalries with teams who have such rich lacrosse history and tradition,” Monmouth men’s lacrosse coach Brian Fisher said.

Added Monmouth women’s lacrosse coach Jordan Trautman: “This move places us squarely in the national spotlight in our sport.”

2. USA Lacrosse Magazine’s college preseason countdown continued Tuesday with previews of the No. 4-ranked Northwestern women and Georgetown men.

Hall of Fame basketball player and NBA legend Bill Walton picked up a stick and it wasn’t pretty — but still pretty cool.
