Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. We had a Tuesday afternoon classic in Chapel Hill.
The North Carolina men hosted an upset-hungry High Point team in what turned out to be an exciting, back-and-forth battle. Chris Gray dropped seven more points, and the Tar Heels held off Asher Nolting and the Panthers by a 17-15 margin.
Speaking of Nolting, he showcased why he’s one of the most dynamic players in the nation with nine points.
The fact that High Point made the trip was a miracle of sorts. The team put out a tweet on Tuesday morning listing the COVID protocols it had to clear before being able to travel.
2. Penn men’s lacrosse players wrote a letter to the Ivy league, laying out the reasons they believe the Ivy League should allow them to compete in college lacrosse this spring. Inside Lacrosse obtained the letter to share with the lacrosse community.
The Quakers’ players suggested that on-field transmission is not likely and that the consequences of not having a season outweigh the opposite argument.
More on the letter here.
3. “Overtime” is back for Season 4, and Michael Sowers is the first guest.
Paul Carcaterra returns to host the premier storytelling podcast in the game, featuring the current Duke star.
Listen below.
4. Cincinnati’s Monica Borzillo is the US Lacrosse Division I Women’s Player of the Week.
Borzillo came up big for the Bearcats on Sunday, scoring five times and adding six assists in a 20-19 win over Marquette. She scored the game-tying goal with less than two minutes left.
More here.
5. Hofstra’s Ryan Tierney is the US Lacrosse Division I Men’s Player of the Week.
Tierney was the key in the Pride staying in a battle with St. John’s, scoring eight times and dishing off three assists. He scored the game-tying goal with less than 20 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime.
