Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Pat Spencer dazzled in his Northwestern basketball debut.
Less than three months after the former Loyola star won the Tewaaraton Award as the top player in college lacrosse, he was in the starting lineup Tuesday for the Wildcats in an exhibition against the Paris All-Stars in France. Spencer had 21 points and 10 assists in a 96-68 win.
2. The Women’s Professional Lacrosse League announced its postseason All-Star Team. The champion Brave led all teams with five selections, including all three members of its heralded midfield unit of Dempsey Arsenault, Amanda Johansen and Marie McCool.
3. World Lacrosse released the schedule for the world indoor championship. The event opens with a bang Sept. 19, when Canada and the U.S. face off at Langley Events Centre in Langley, British Columbia.
4. US Lacrosse announced the 2019 recipients of Michael Breschi Memorial Scholarship.
Molly Olney (Washington State) of Seattle and Audra Tosone (UMass) of Walpole, Mass., “both showed amazing passion for family, academics and community throughout their life, and lacrosse has been a driving force to impact so many others around them,” said North Carolina men’s coach Joe Breschi, whose late son is the scholarship’s namesake.
5. STX added several prominent women’s lacrosse players to its portfolio of brand ambassadors, including Dempsey Arsenault, Kenzie Kent and Lindsey Ronbeck.
