Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Pat Kavanagh and Jamie Ortega are the players of the week.
Despite numerous outstanding performances, these decisions didn’t require too much deliberation. Notre Dame sophomore attackman Pat Kavanagh put himself in the Tewaaraton conversation over the weekend with four goals and five assists during the Fighting Irish’s 18-11 win over Syracuse. He’s averaged the most assists per game (4.33) in D-I this spring.
Jamie Ortega saved her biggest performance of the spring for the top opponent on North Carolina’s schedule. The senior attacker, who entered 2021 tied for fourth in school history in career goals with 183, poured in five goals and added three assists during the No. 1 Tar Heels’ 17-6 win over then-No. 2 Syracuse.
2. This week’s Nike / US Lacrosse High School Boys’ National Top 25 features two new teams. Loyola Blakefield (Md.) and Ponte Vedra (Fl.), which has already played (and won) 13 games, joined the fray at the 21st and 25th spots, respectively.
On the girls’ side, Notre Dame Prep (Md.) makes the biggest jump from 24 to 19 after a pair of convincing wins.

3. Bracketology is back.
While the NCAA tournament format and selection process is still a bit of a mystery because of a lack of non-conference play and no Ivy League competition, that didn’t stop Patrick Stevens from taking his best shot. Check back to this series throughout the month as we get closer to Selection Sunday.
4. The Syracuse women bounced back from their 17-6 loss to No. 1 UNC over the weekend and took down Georgetown 15-10 in Washington D.C. The No. 3 Orange raced out to a 10-0 lead and were ahead 13-2 at halftime. Junior attacker Meaghan Tyrrell led the way with four goals and three assists.
5. The latest episode of Yard Sale premiered last night on YouTube. Mike Golic Jr. joined Anish Shroff, Paul Carcaterra and Quint Kessenich for the “Drive By” segment.

6. Ric Beardsley joined Paul Carcaterra on Season 4, Episode 7 of ‘Overtime.’ The two-time national champion and four-time All American shares an unvarnished look at his life and lacrosse career.
