Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1.  There’s some movement in our latest high school rankings.

After defeating Haverford (Pa.) last Friday in a nationally televised game between Top 25 teams, Brunswick (Conn.) cracked the top five of the US Lacrosse High School Boys’ National Top 25. After an early season loss to Spalding (Md.), Malvern Prep has rounded into form and moved up from No. 16 to No. 12 in the rankings on the back of an 8-1 record.

Knocking off a perennial top team in the regular season for the first time since 2008 is a surefire way to climb up the US Lacrosse High School Girls’ National Top 25. St. Paul’s (Md.) leaped six spots from No. 9 to No. 3 after the Gators defeated then-No. 1 McDonogh (10-2). The Eagles dropped to 14th this week.

2. More clutch performers earn USL Player of the Week honors.

Spencer Rees continues to impress between the pipes for No. 13. Navy. The senior goalie, who before this season saw a combined 61 minutes of game action spread over the previous three years, made a career-best 19 saves, including 14 in the second half, to stifle Army’s offense last Saturday in a 9-4 upset win.

Making her first start at attack after junior standout Megan Carney was felled by an ACL tear, Emma Tyrrell scored six goals and added one assist as the Orange took down Boston College 16-7 two days after a one-goal loss to the Eagles. Tyrrell scored twice in the 14-13 loss Thursday, giving her eight goals on the week.

4. Redwoods LC star attackman and Notre Dame alum Matt Kavanagh joined Paul Carcaterra on “Overtime” Season 4, Episode 10. You can now listen to the episode on AppleSpotify or wherever you get your podcasts.

5. The Detroit Cass Tech girls’ lacrosse team won its first game in program history yesterday. The 13-6 win over Avondale High School is the first victory for a high school girls’ lacrosse team from the city of Detroit.
