Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. Syracuse closed out its regular season home schedule with a bang, cruising to a 13-8 win over No. 9 Cornell on Tuesday night.

Stephen Rehfuss and Bradley Voigt each had three goals to lead the Orange to the victory over the Big Red. Plus, Nate Solomon chipped in this amazing goal.

Syracuse jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the second quarter and Cornell could not claw any closer. The Big Red cut the deficit to 8-5 in the third quarter, but Voigt led a four-goal run to put the game away.

Also in men’s action, Kevin Lindley scored six more goals and Loyola held on to beat Georgetown 16-14 at Ridley. The Greyhounds led 11-6 at half and withstood two three-goal rallies from the Hoyas. Aidan Olmstead had two goals and six assists for Loyola, while Pat Spencer had two goals and three assists.

2. Stony Brook women’s lacrosse picked up its biggest win of the season Tuesday at Homewood Field, scoring the final three goals to down No. 13 Johns Hopkins 12-9.

The Blue Jays got out to a 3-1 lead and controlled much of the first half until the Seawolves closed with two goals to take a 6-5 lead at the break. 

Down 8-6, Johns Hopkins got goals from Maggie Schneidereith and Miranda Ibello to tie the game at 8-8. The teams traded goals before Stony Brook caught fire over the final 13 minutes to seal the game. Sara Moeller scored the final Seawolves goal — her third on the day. Ally Kennedy chipped in four goals and two assists.

3. High school lacrosse is back, and the first round of our monthly in-season rankings dropped Tuesday.

McDonogh (Md.) is back to the top spot in our Nike/US Lacrosse High School Girls National Top 25. The perennial contender started the season at No. 2, but narrowly beat then-No. 1 Manhasset (N.Y.) 8-7 to take over the top spot.

As for the boys’ rankings, Calvert Hall (Md.) has jumped out to an 8-1 start (with the lone loss coming to Canadian power Hill Academy) and retains the No. 1 spot in the Nike/US Lacrosse High School Boys National Top 25. Ward Melville (N.Y.), St. Anthony’s (N.Y.), Culver (Ind.) and Garden City (N.Y.) round out the top 5.

4. Bill O’Brien will always remember the moment he reflected on his heritage as a Native American. It was at a football camp during high school.

One of the guys asked me ‘You’re like Indian or something?’ I told him I was from Onondaga and I was Native American. He was like ‘Oh my god, I didn’t know you guys existed still.’”

That conversation struck a chord with O’Brien, who has made it his mission to educate others on Natives. Hear his story in our What It Means to be Native series.

5. Colorado women’s lacrosse took advantage of its second chance against USC over the weekend. After falling to the Trojans earlier this season, the Buffaloes knotted up the season series and moved into second place in the Pac-12 with their first win at USC.

Also from Justin Feil, after Maryland’s defeat of Michigan, there are only two unbeatens remaining in women’s Division I lacrosse.

• The Premier Lacrosse League announced Tuesday that IMG Academy will host its inaugural training camp from May 17-22.

• How a US Lacrosse First Stick Grant helped boost the Missoula Sentinel girls lacrosse program in Montana.

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING

Denmark High School (Ga.) wanted to continue to develop its lacrosse program, but lacked the resources and equipment necessary. US Lacrosse, via a First Stick Grant, provided gear to the program and brought U.S. national team player Jordan Wolf to visit.

Yes, this Hartford vs. Dartmouth game took place yesterday, not in February. Folks in New Hampshire enjoyed a nice snowstorm, while Hartford came away with the late win.
