Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. National Celebrate Lacrosse Week is underway.
The inaugural NCLW kicked off this past Saturday with Pick Up and Play clinics across the country. USA Lacrosse will offer daily themes throughout the event to bring the lacrosse community together virtually and in person to help showcase this special game. Part of this initiative is to make the sport of lacrosse welcoming, diverse and inclusive.
Yesterday, the focus was celebrating the history of the sport.
Today, we

2. Will Bowen is already making a big impact on the Hill Top.
The 2021 USA Lacrosse Magazine first-team All-American defenseman at North Carolina who’s listed at 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds was the big get of the transfer portal this past year. Yet Bowen, who graduated from UNC in three years and still has two years of eligibility remaining, explained to Patrick Stevens that his decision to pick Georgetown and its two-year master’s program in finance was all part of a larger plan.
“He’s a mature guy,” Hoyas head coach Kevin Warne said. “He’s very Type A. He just knows what he wants. Obviously, looking at him physically, you go, ‘Holy smokes, I hope [basketball] coach [Patrick] Ewing doesn’t see him or anything.’”

3. There was no shortage of lacrosse connections among the more than 30,000 runners who toed the line in the 50th New York City Marathon.
Included in that mix were a pair of former Blue Devils. Charles Payton and Peter Conley each finished in impressive times and used the race to raise money for important causes.
Payton (3:16:42) raised over $7,000 for the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. Conley (3:31:39) raised $3,361 as a part of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Breathe Team.
“Running the NYC Marathon is a meaningful rebuilding challenge,” Conley, who played at Georgetown for four years before taking his fifth at Duke, wrote on his fundraising page. “With screws in both feet, and some leftover back injuries, I wasn’t sure if I could make it through training — let alone the full 26 miles. However, I am determined to prove to myself that I can still push my body physically.”
