Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. An Epoch deal.

North Carolina career goals leader and four-time All-American Jamie Ortega made history Monday, officially partnering with Epoch to become the brand’s first female athlete.

“I loved how authentic they were with the brand,” Ortega said about Epoch, which also sponsors North Carolina athletics as well as Premier Lacrosse League stars like Matt Rambo, Jules Heningburg and Jarrod Neumann. “A message that I love that we’re both working on together is empowering the next generation of lacrosse players and young women in general.”

More on the partnership here.

2. World Lacrosse announced several updates, including that the inaugural women's box championship will be held in 2024 in conjunction with men's box championship.

A new structure for the men’s and women’s World Championships will also increase the maximum number of competing nations from 30 to 40.

Head here for more news items to come out of the meeting.

3. The Princeton men’s lacrosse team shared an exciting update they haven’t been able to in almost two years: a schedule release. The Tigers’ non-conference slate features a trio of tough tests in Maryland, Georgetown and Rutgers, which all made at least the NCAA quarterfinals in 2021. Notably absent is Johns Hopkins, which Princeton has played in every one of its seasons since 1937 except for the World War II year of 1944.

Due limitations last year imposed by the Ivy League, Princeton did hold any contests. Its last game took place March 7, 2020. The Tigers defeated Rutgers 16-11 at home to improve to 5-0 before the season was curtailed by the coronavirus pandemic.

4. Mike Nelson has been selected as the winner of the 2021 USA Lacrosse Homer R. Schwartz Leadership Award.

A longtime volunteer with the Long Island Metropolitan Lacrosse Foundation (LIMLF), Nelson becomes the ninth recipient of the award that was created in 2014 to recognize a local USA Lacrosse leader who embodies the same qualities of passion and dedication that Schwartz provided as a longtime USA Lacrosse chapter volunteer.

5. In case you missed it, we have a winner for every Halloween costume contest held this past weekend. Next year’s too.
