Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. Virginia didn’t need overtime magic on Monday. The Cavaliers rode the hot goaltending of Alex Rode (13 saves) and tenacious defense to beat reigning NCAA Division I men’s champion Yale 13-9 to claim its first national title since 2011.

On the offensive side, Matt Moore was on target from the get-go and finished with four goals.

2. Maryland’s season ended in familiar fashion — the school’s 14^th NCAA Division I women’s lacrosse championship. Senior goalie Megan Taylor made 10 saves to earn tournament MOP honors as the Terps beat Boston College 12-10, the Eagles third straight defeat in the title game.

3. Merrimack’s final season in Division II men’s lacrosse had a fitting final chapter. The Warriors, transitioning to Division I next year, beat Limestone 16-8 to claim their second straight NCAA championship.

4. Cabrini’s “1-0” philosophy resulted in the school’s first NCAA Division III men’s lacrosse championship as the Cavaliers beat Amherst 16-12 before a vocal hometown crowd.

5. Middlebury and/or Salisbury have appeared in the NCAA Division III women’s lacrosse final in 17 of the last 24 years. On Sunday, they faced off for all the marbles for the first time ever and Middlebury freshman Jane Earley keyed the Panthers title with four goals and nine draw controls.

6. Yale commit Fallon Vaughn helped Massachusetts/Rhode Island win the top flight at the US Lacrosse National Tournament and was named the winner of the Heather Leigh Albert Award.

7. John Grant Jr., was going to be a big part of the Denver Outlaws offense as offensive coordinator, but now he’ll help out on the field. The legendary attackman is coming out of retirement and playing for the first time since 2016.

8. Calgary beat Buffalo 14-13 in overtime Saturday night to complete a sweep of the NLL’s best-of-three championship series.

WHAT WE’RE READING

• Denison’s Henry DeCamp played the homestretch of his senior season on a torn ACL, including a final performance in the USILA Senior All-Star Game on Friday night at US Lacrosse.

• The IWLCA announced rosters for the Senior All-Star Games, which will be played at US Lacrosse on June 1.

• Syracuse’s men’s lacrosse was once a Memorial Day Weekend staple. Can the Orange return to their once lofty heights?

• Navy is taking its time to find its new head men’s lacrosse coach.

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING

• The NCAA season is over, but lacrosse season is far from over. The Tewaaraton will be awarded on Thursday, MLL opens its 2019 season on Friday and both the PLL and WPLL begin play on Saturday.
