1.  Best game, near-miss, biggest surprise, top performances and numbers of note — Patrick Stevens breaks down the opening weekend of the NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championship.

2. All five Tewaaraton finalists have advanced to the NCAA quarterfinal round. Kenny DeJohn looks at their performances and more in the opening weekend of the NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse Championship.

3. Buffalo and Colorado won the respective series openers as the National Lacrosse League has reached the conference final round. Those teams can clinch on Saturday, but Toronto and San Diego will be looking to extend things to a third game.

4. Record-setting North Carolina attackman Chris Gray joined Paul Carcaterra to reflect on his career and look ahead to the Premier Lacrosse League.

• After ruling the Colonial Athletic Association in its final seasons, James Madison’s women’s lacrosse program is looking for a fresh start in the American Athletic Conference.

• A tragic story out of Connecticut where Jimmy McGrath, a football and lacrosse player at Fairfield Prep, died after being stabbed in fight outside of a home in Connecticut on Saturday night.

• The third wave of high school players for the Under Armour All-America games have been named: Boys | Girls

• An episode of Gossip Girl led Luisa Arana and Manuela Cabrere, exchange students from Spain, to pick up lacrosse this spring at Kayla Treanor’s alma mater, Niskayuna (N.Y.) High School.
