1. Yale moved into the top spot in the Nike/US Lacrosse Division I men’s rankings following its win over Penn State on Saturday while North Carolina firmly cemented itself at No. 1 in the women’s rankings after a blowout win against Maryland. This week’s rankings:

3. There was a light schedule on Monday with just two Division I women’s games. No. 4 Syracuse overwhelmed previously unbeaten Colgate, 21-4, behind four goals from Megan Carney. No. 17 UMass beat UMass-Lowell, 21-8, as Haley Connaughton, Emma Dotsikas and Stephanie Croke each scored four goals.
4. Sam Fieldler’s seven-goal effort in Loyola’s stunning 17-6 victory over No. 2 Florida earned her US Lacrosse Player of the week honors. The men’s player of the week was Princeton’s Michael Sowers, who had eight points in the Tigers 16-12 win over No. 2 Virginia.
5. Brodie Merrill set the NLL’s all-time loose ball record in San Diego’s 15-10 victory over Vancouver. Jack Goods with the NLL Notebook.
