Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Another Monday gone means another look at updated Nike/USA Lacrosse Top 20 rankings.
On the D-I men’s side, Virginia holds firm at No. 1 while Ohio State, which somewhat unexpectedly blasted North Carolina, soars up to No. 7. Hobart also joins the conversation after upsetting Lehigh.
In D-I women’s lacrosse, three new teams enter the Top 20 after a week that featured nine losses among ranked teams. Vanderbilt, USC and Virginia Tech are the Top 20’s new members.
Bentley is new to the D-II men’s Top 20, but the story here is the five-spot rise of Queens (N.C.) after its resounding victory over Mount Olive.
Embry-Riddle cracks into the D-II women’s Top 20, and Grand Valley State climbs four spots to No. 11 after a big win over Tampa.
Dickinson, led by Maryland transfer Chris Brandau, has entered the D-III men’s Top 20. Brandau made 24 saves and the defense shut down then-No. 11 Stevens to help the Red Devils enter the picture.
Finally, there wasn’t a ton of movement in the D-III women’s Top 20, but Washington and Lee is hot after jumping five spots because of a win over former No. 3 Franklin & Marshall.
