Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Yesterday, we gave a sneak peek of the February print edition of US Lacrosse Magazine, which starts hitting our members’ mailboxes this week. Look for cover stories on Duke men’s lacrosse and Notre Dame women’s lacrosse.
2. Two separate reports indicate that the Yale men’s lacrosse team will not play in 2021. Inside Lacrosse first reported the news and then the Yale Daily News shared a portion of an email that head coach Andy Shay sent to alumni.
3. Dox Aitken is the only 5th-year senior back for Virginia’s men’s lacrosse team. The return of All-American LSM Jared Conners, who has helped the Cavaliers lead the nation in groundballs for four straight years, is also back. Virginia is ranked No. 5 in the Nike/US Lacrosse preseason rankings.
4. Joe Spallina isn’t one to back away from attention and the Stony Brook women, No. 5 in the Nike/US Lacrosse preseason rankings, might get lots of it this spring. Spallina says this is the best team he’s ever had at the school.
5. Former U.S. U19 and Maryland goalie Harry Alford weighs in in on some pretty cool stuff from Air Force men’s lacrosse.
6. The IWLCA released its preseason NCAA women’s lacrosse polls. North Carolina, Adelphi and Middlebury top the lists.
7. US Lacrosse CEO Steve Stenersen was a guest on the Pay2Play podcast, talking about the future of the sport.
