Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. James Madison and Towson are into the Women’s Division I Top 10 after upsetting top 5 teams within minutes of one another over the weekend. The Dukes, who beat No. 3 North Carolina in overtime, rise from No. 17 to No. 8 in the rankings and Towson, which held on to beat No. 4 Penn State at home, comes from unranked to No. 9.
Rest assured, the CAA race will be a fun one to follow this season.
As a result of the two upsets, North Carolina fell to No. 11 and Penn State moved back to No. 12. USC, Florida and Boston College all moved up in the Top 10.
2. Virginia scored a huge win on Saturday, using a Dox Aitken goal to come back to beat Loyola in overtime. So when the Nike/US Lacrosse Division I Men’s Top 20 came out Monday, the Cavaliers moved up to No. 13.
Also on the rise is a Johns Hopkins team that dominated 2017 final four member Towson 14-6 at Homewood Field on Saturday night. The Blue Jays jumped from No. 12 to No. 10 in the rankings after the win.
Loyola (No. 14) and North Carolina (No. 11) were notable teams that dropped in the Top 20.

In small college rankings, Lenoir-Rhyne made a big jump in the Men’s Division II Top 20 after upsetting No. 1 Limestone over the weekend. The defending champs fell down to No. 3 in the country.
-
Most of the Division III Men’s Top 20 was inactive, but No. 2 York and No. 3 Salisbury picked up wins last weekend and put pressure on No. 1 Wesleyan as its season approaches.
3. Max Seibald is coming back to the Boston Cannons after hinting at retirement this offseason, the team announced Monday. Seibald, the former Tewaaraton winner and U.S. national team player, was unsure of his MLL future as he prepared to play for Israel in the 2018 FIL World Championships next summer.
He said a 2016 trip to Israel inspired him to tryout for the national team, and he will balance that commitment with the Cannons season in 2018.

4. Justin Guterding is hot. The Duke star has tallied 27 points in his first three games of the season, including 18 points in two weekend wins. He takes home Warrior/US Lacrosse Men’s Division I Player of the Week honors for his effort.
Guterding now has 12 goals and 15 assists to lead the No. 1 Blue Devils into a matchup with No. 3 Denver this week.
5. Kristen Gaudian had a great day in James Madison’s 15-14 win over No. 3 North Carolina and takes home Brine/US Lacrosse Player of the Week honors. She had a career-high five goals in the win, including the two most important tallies of the day.
Gaudian scored the game-tying goal with 1:26 left in regulation to send it to overtime, and clinched the victory with her fifth goal just 67 seconds into overtime.
6. The Saskatchewan Rush and Buffalo Bandits are leading the way at the midway point of the NLL season. The Rush and Bandits top the midseason East and West division rankings, and could be headed for a Champion’s Cup matchup.
Also in Neil Stevens’ notebook, Troy Cordingley entered the NLL coaches’ 100-win list, becoming the third coach in league history to do so. Curt Malawsky also became the Calgary Roughnecks all-time leader in wins.
More on the top storylines and a preview for the weekend ahead.
