Good morning. Here's the latest from the lacrosse world:

1. Chaos will have a chance to defend its title after all.
   The reigning PLL champion Chaos is 2-8. But none of that matters now. The Chaos knew it had clinched a postseason berth before playing a game this weekend. The Whipsnakes gave the Chaos an assist, scoring an 11-9 win over the Cannons to help the Chaos secure the seventh and final seed.
   
   The Cannons are out of the playoffs, while the Chaos will play the Chrome Saturday, Sept. 3 at noon.
   
   "When someone has nothing to lose, and they put it all out there, those are tough teams to play against because you can't predict what they're going to do or how they're going to do it," said Whipsnakes coach Jim Stagnitta, whose top-seeded team earned a first-round bye.

2. Abby Bosco is staying in Maryland.
   Reigning Big Ten Defender of the Year and IWLCA first-team All-American Abby Bosco is returning to Maryland for her final year of eligibility. Bosco captained the 2022 Terps to a 19-2 record, Big Ten regular season and tournament titles and a Final Four appearance. With Bosco, the Terps led the nation in scoring defense at 7.81 goals allowed per game.
   
   It’s a huge return for the Terps, who also landed Marge Donovan from Princeton earlier this summer. Maryland is also welcoming back IWLCA Goaltender of the Year Emily Sterling.
   
   Bosco, who previously starred at Penn, has one year remaining after the pandemic essentially canceled two-straight seasons of Ivy League lacrosse. The one game Bosco played for the Quakers during the 2021 season did not count toward her eligibility.

3. Relive UNC’s road to redemption.
   UNC fifth-year players Jamie Ortega, Taylor Moreno, Emma Trenchard and Ally Mastroianni produced illustrious careers in Carolina blue. But they experienced heartbreak after heartbreak in the Final Four — until this year, when they put together an undefeated season, a comeback for the ages in the Final Four and a national championship.

WHAT WE’RE READING

• PLL Assists is changing the game by focusing on inclusion, writes Lacrosse All-Stars.

• A retired player and teacher is giving Richmond a history lesson on women’s box lacrosse.

• Team British Colombia won gold at the Canada Games for the first time since 1985. The players did it for Ben Pawluk, their 17-year-old teammate who was recently diagnosed with cancer. Pawluk watched the gold-medal game while receiving chemotherapy at a Vancouver hospital.

• Aspen Daily News caught up with the Aspen men’s lacrosse team, which defended its Goerne Cup over the weekend.

• The Toronto Rock of the NLL has signed defensemen Chris Corbeil to a three-year deal that will run through the 2024-25 season.

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING

If anything, the pandemic-induced wait made Saturday’s gold medal win over Canada even sweeter.
