Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. The Women’s Professional Lacrosse League continues to lure top players away from United Women’s Lacrosse as WPLL gears up for its inaugural draft and fall showcase. The WPLL, founded by former UWLX commissioner Michele DeJuliis, announced Monday on Instagram that Molly Hendrick (North Carolina) and Kaylin Morissette (Louisville) have registered for the draft — bringing the total to 30 players announced with a week remaining before the Aug. 15 deadline.

It’s an impressive list that includes 13 members of the gold medal-winning U.S. national team and four players — Zoe Stukenberg, Taylor Cummings, Katie Schwarzmann and Hannah Nielsen — that have combined to win eight of the last 10 Tewaaraton Awards.

Additionally, DeJuliis has hired 2016 UWLX championship game MVP Devon Wills as director of player relations and former Baltimore Ride coach Jen Adams as commissioner. On Monday, she added Caitlin Jackson and Rachael DeCecco to the league’s front office. Jackson will be chief operating officer and DeCecco will oversee the WPLL Foundation.

2. The Rochester Rattlers, the last team to clinch a Major League Lacrosse playoff berth, also happen to be the league’s hottest team. They have won four straight and own a season sweep over their semifinal foe, the suddenly reeling Denver Outlaws.

3. Remington Steele, whose name for some readers may invoke visions of dreamy Pierce Brosnan circa 1982, is a fast rising women’s lacrosse coach who on Monday was hired as the new head coach at Bucknell. The Bison are coming off back-to-back winning seasons. Steele’s hire closes the loop on this summer’s coaching carousel in Division I women’s lacrosse.

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING

Ezekiel Brown, 11, was outside playing lacrosse earlier this year when his mother called him inside to tell him he had cancer—synovial sarcoma, specifically. Thanks to Make-A-Wish Colorado and his hometown MLL team, the Denver Outlaws, Brown got a chance to suit up earlier this season. After Eric Law scored the game-winner in overtime July 27 against the Chesapeake Bayhawks, clinching a playoff berth for the Outlaws, he bear-hugged Brown from behind and hoisted him in the air to celebrate.

Denver7, an ABC affiliate, shared Brown’s story during its 10 p.m. newscast Monday. Grab a tissue.
