Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. The search for Dave Pietramala’s replacement at Johns Hopkins appears to be heating up, and the information is coming from a variety of places.
According to Inside Lacrosse, the search may have been narrowed. Non-Hopkins alums who have reportedly been contacted include Yale’s Andy Shay, Army’s Joe Alberici, Lehigh’s Kevin Cassese, Richmond’s Dan Chemotti, Penn’s Mike Murphy and Cornell’s Peter Milliman.
Of the group of Hopkins alumni, Towson’s Shawn Nadelen, Hobart’s Greg Raymond and Hofstra’s Seth Tierney were reportedly contacted.
Chris Jastrzembski tweeted a thread of candidates, echoing several names from the Inside Lacrosse report. His sources say Chemotti and Nadelen are finalists.
College Crosse tweeted a video from a local news station saying that Scott Marr told Albany administration that he won’t pursue the opening.
2. Speaking of Pietramala, he’s the next guest on “Overtime” with Paul Carcaterra, dropping this morning. Pietramala opened up about his career at Johns Hopkins and where he intends to go from here in a candid conversation.
Stay tuned for more from Pietramala this week.
3. Two more seniors will be taking advantage of the extra year of eligibility. Syracuse captain Peter Dearth is looking to “run it back,” as is Marist captain Joe Tierney.
4. We’re moving forward in the Nike / US Lacrosse Magazine Virtual NCAA Tournament. The women’s quarterfinals began last night, and the men’s semifinals begin Thursday. We’ll sync up both brackets so that each championship game happens at the same time next week. Stay tuned for more.
