Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. Nick Mellen won’t return to Syracuse in 2021.

Mellen, the All-American defenseman, made the announcement on social media Monday. He missed most of this season after getting injured in the opener against Colgate. He also missed his sophomore year with injury, making 2021 a potential sixth year.

2. Looks like TD Ierlan won’t return, either.

Ierlan, arguably the greatest faceoff man in the history of college lacrosse, had his fears confirmed over the weekend when Yale (and Harvard) followed Princeton’s ruling in stating that spring student-athletes would not be given a waiver to compete as fifth-year seniors, even if they withdrew from the university and reenrolled to preserve their eligibility.

“I think two schools is a good limit for me,” Ierlan said on Friday. “I’d pass on a third school. That’s a little bit too much.”

One of the greatest of all time reflected on his playing career and what he hopes to do at his alma mater. Check it out now.

5. We remember National Lacrosse Hall of Famer Susie Ganzenmuller.

Ganzenmuller, one of the most influential officials in our sport’s history, died on April 3. A nationally-rated umpire since 1989 and internationally-rated since 1991, Ganzenmuller officiated the 1993 and 1997 World Cups, 11 NCAA Division I championship weekends and was technical delegate at multiple world championships.
