Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Brianne Tierney is eager to get started in her first season as a Division I head coach. Shortly after giving birth to her son, Bodhi, she joined an equally young Kent State women’s lacrosse program.
Tierney’s connection to the game of lacrosse runs deep, growing up watching father Bill win national championships at Princeton and Denver. Her husband, Cleveland State coach Dylan Sheridan, is another inspiration.
2. A.J. Haugen’s lacrosse journey started with his father on Long Island, continued at Bethpage (N.Y.), blossomed at Johns Hopkins and ends in the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
Haugen, the former Blue Jays great and U.S. national team member in 2006, will be enshrined in the Hall of Fame this weekend during a ceremony in Hunt Valley, Md.
3. Gussie Johns, the former USC goalie and gold medalist with the U.S. women’s national team in 2017, joined the Georgetown staff as a volunteer assistant in charge of the goalies.
Johns will join former U.S. national team coach Ricky Fried, who heads the Hoyas program. She graduated from USC this spring and currently plays for the WPLL’s Philadelphia Fire.
4. Happy Women's Health and Fitness Day. The lacrosse world celebrated over social media.
