Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. The National Lacrosse League is growing significantly, and it’s not stopping any time soon. With the announced addition of teams in San Diego and Philadelphia in the last two weeks, league commissioner Nick Sakiewicz is hinting at what he believes is big potential for the nine-team league.

“It’s the first year of a five-year plan,” Sakiewicz said of the expansion. “After 12 months in, we are on schedule. … We want 18-20 teams quickly. Ultimately, over the next decade, I believe 30 teams or maybe more. I see us being the biggest Canadian top-tier league. We’re the best lacrosse league in the world.”'

With a rumored third expansion franchise coming to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Sackiewicz said that the most important factor in the sustainability of these franchises is strong ownership. He sighted San Diego owner Joseph Tsai, a former Yale player who has a reported net worth of $9.1 billion, as an example of what he hopes is to come.

2. The Peterborough Lakers took a 3-2 lead in the Mann Cup with an 11-10 win over the New Westminster Salmonbellies on Wednesday night. Curtis Dickson had three goals and three assists, while Adam Jones had a hat trick and two assists to lead the Lakers to their third straight win after going down 2-0 to start the series.

After a back-and-forth first two periods, the Lakers took a 10-7 lead into the third. Dickson started with period with his third goal, but New Westminster wasn't done. Logan Schuss, Brett Mydske and Anthony Malcom combined for a three-goal rally that cut the deficit to a goal with less than three minutes remaining.

Petersborough held on through the final minutes to set up a potential clincher in Game 6 on Friday, despite nine points (three goals, six assists) from Mitch Jones.
