1. UIndy made a big move during an otherwise slow news day, hiring Elaine Jones to be its next head women’s lacrosse coach.

Jones, who spent the past 10 seasons at Longwood, replaces James Delaney, who was fired less than three months after winning a Division II national championship. Jones will begin her duties effective immediately.

Jones won 97 games in 11 seasons at UC Davis prior to her stint at Longwood and successfully led that program in its transition from Division II to Division I.
