1. The Ivy League and NESCAC canceled spring sports seasons amid concerns about COVID-19, the coronavirus disease spreading throughout the U.S., a crushing development for two of the strongest and most competitive conferences in college lacrosse. US Lacrosse Magazine has established a hub for coronavirus updates as they relate to lacrosse.
2. Surprised. Devastated. Blindsided. Sad for the seniors. These sentiments echoed in the comments and reactions of several Ivy League men’s lacrosse coaches reached by US Lacrosse Magazine in the wake of Wednesday’s news.
3. Emotions were raw and questions abundant as Ivy League women’s lacrosse coaches absorbed the reality of a season cut short.
4. The Premier Lacrosse League rounded out its 2020 regular-season schedule Wednesday, announcing five more locations. The PLL will debut in Portland, Ore., Cary, N.C., and Salt Lake City and return to Albany, N.Y., and Denver.
5. Boston College won its 30th straight home game, undefeated Notre Dame cruised past Vanderbilt in advance of its No. 1 vs. No. 2 showdown at North Carolina and Brown ended its season on a high note with a win over Virginia Tech in women’s lacrosse action Wednesday.
6. Michigan edged Marquette 13-12 in the lone Division I men’s lacrosse game Wednesday. Alex Buckanavage led the way with four goals and three assists, becoming the fastest player in program history to reach 100 career points. Rocco Sutherland scored the go-ahead goal with 3:21 remaining.
