Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1.  Michigan has tabbed Maryland defensive coordinator Kevin Conry as its new head coach. This will be Conry's first collegiate head coaching position after serving as an assistant at Maryland, Fairfield, Penn State and Siena. A 2004 graduate of Johns Hopkins, Conry helped Maryland's staunch defense reach three straight NCAA championship games, winning the title this past season. Former Michigan coach John Paul, who oversaw the school's transition from club to a varsity program that went 8-6 this year, was among the well wishers for Conry.

2. US Lacrosse had a public launch of its Lacrosse Communities Project yesterday in Albany, N.Y. The program aims to create self-sustaining, multi-generational lacrosse programs complete with cooperatively run clinics, feeder schools and recreational programs, and ensure access to sports through the creation or renovation of athletic fields in select regions. Future launches are planned for Cleveland and Brooklyn

The Lacrosse Communities Project launched yesterday in Albany, N.Y. Community partner CityLax NYS Albany – the Albany and Capital District chapter of CityLax NYC – will serve as a pilot program beneficiary and work alongside the Albany Police Athletic League and Beverwyck Lacrosse.

Some coverage of the event:

3. Monmouth announced the resignation of head women's lacrosse coach Eileen Ghent on Wednesday. Ghent, who went 18-18 in two seasons as head coach after serving as an assistant at the school for four seasons, is married to former Monmouth assistant men's basketball coach Sam Ferry, who recently took a position on the staff at Pitt.

4. Maryland’s Matt Rambo and Zoe Stukenberg have been named as finalists for the Best Male College Athlete and Best Female College Athlete, respectively, for this years ESPYS awards show. The awards are decided by fan voting.

5. Ohio's Peter Baum says the product has never been better, but Major League Lacrosse is still looking to find the right formular to drive visibility to the league and increase attendance.

What We’re Reading

What We’re Watching

There is no mandate, or plan to mandate, the use of women’s headgear by US Lacrosse or the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). That’s one of the primary points of clarification in a new informational video produced by US Lacrosse.

Garrett Bolles was the first lineman taken in the National Football League draft this year, going to the Denver Broncos, but his first love was lacrosse. The former high school player from Utah showed off his skills during a recent Denver Outlaws game.
