Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. The U.S. women's team defeated Poland, 20-0, to open up play in the International World Games in Wroclaw, Poland.
Here's a recap of the game, which began at 4 a.m. ET.
2. The U.S. women's team got ready for its next tournament with a new focus and its new rules. With only 10 players allowed on the field, as opposed to 12, look for some players to help out in positions they may not be accustomed to playing.
3. Team USA midfielder Marie McCool checked in with yesterday's "Mission Log" player blog, highlighting the team's first practice for the World Games and its exploration of Wroclaw, Poland.
4. Don't forget about the World Cup just yet, as we've posted a memorable gallery of our favorite non-USA photos from last week's event in England. Kudos to the host organizers and the teams for a great tournament.
5. The Mercer Island (Wash.) Lacrosse Club gets set to embark on a 10-day trip to Russia. The coaches and players will conduct coaching clinics and practices with local players, and US Lacrosse Magazine's Matt Hamilton will be there to chronicle the trip. Could be the first stories about Russia with any truth in quite some time.
