Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world.
1. The on-field product is a question mark, but Cornell has the leadership.
Connor Buczek knows the “Cornell Way” just as good as anyone, which means the Big Red — who check into our preseason Top 20 at No. 18 — enter the 2022 season with a fair bit of confidence despite not playing since March 2020.
There are questions regarding on-field experience for sure, but with John Piatelli leading the offense, Cornell appears to be in good shape.

2. The Jacksonville women return 97 percent of a roster that made waves in 2021.
In fact, according to Zack Capozzi of Lacrosse Reference, the Dolphins finished last year with the highest end-of-season LaxElo rating since the statistic was developed in 2016.
A potent offense should make Jacksonville difficult to keep up with in 2022.

3. Taylor Cummings has been named a finalist for the IWGA Athlete of the Year Award.
Voting opens Jan. 10 for the International World Games Association honor. Cummings, a U.S. women’s national team fixture and the inaugural Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse champion, will lead the U.S. team this summer in the 2022 World Lacrosse Women’s World Championship at Towson University.
