1. The lacrosse world celebrated National Girls and Women in Sports Day.

2. USILA announced its 2022 Preseason All-Americans.

Georgetown earned the most nods. Six Hoyas are represented out of the 43 student-athletes selected. See the full list here.

3. The Atlantic 10 poised to add men’s lacrosse.

The MAAC eyeing expansion. Teams like James Madison, Cincinnati and Liberty all experiencing different degrees of conference uncertainty. Those are just a few of the ramifications shaking up the D-I landscape. Jeremy Fallis with the full report here.

4. In more conference shakeup fall out, the America East announced that Stony Brook, which is leaving for the CAA on July 1, will not be eligible for America East conference tournaments in any sport for the remainder of the academic year. Full statement here.

WHAT WE’RE READING

• The first installment of Taylor’s Takes in 2022 features Taylor Cummings’ Preseason Top 10 rankings and a few storylines to keep an eye on this season.

• It’s been 50 years since the passage of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 to the Civil Rights Act. A few legends of the sport reflected on the impact that the groundbreaking Title IX decision has had on lacrosse.

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING

The new era of Syracuse men’s lacrosse under Gary Gait will have a different look, and not just the Orange’s style on the field. Syracuse revealed its jerseys for the 2022 season that feature a notable change: sleeves.

Lars Tiffany could probably speak for all Virginia fans when he expressed his excitement about kicking off the season this Saturday against Air Force at Klöckner Stadium in Charlottesville and raising the 2021 NCAA Championship banner.
