Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Penn State’s Grant Ament and North Carolina’s Jamie Ortega were named the US Lacrosse Magazine Preseason Players of the Year for NCAA Division I men’s and women’s lacrosse, respectively, on Wednesday.
Both Ament and Ortega are the top returning offensive players for teams ranked No. 1 in the Nike/US Lacrosse Preseason Top 20 for their respective divisions. Ament, a senior, was a Tewaaraton finalist with an NCAA single-season record 96 assists last spring. Ortega, a junior, set a UNC record with 112 points as sophomore.
Hall of Famer Mark Millon approves of Ament’s selection.
2. CBS Sports and the Patriot League announced 11 games that will be televised during the 2020 college lacrosse season. Much to the chagrin of some, the broadcast schedule includes just one women’s game.
