Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. The Long Island Sound defeated the Boston Storm 16-8 to repeat as UWLX champions Wednesday at Lake Placid. MVP Christina Esposito scored four goals and Halle Majorana added three, including a 2-pointer, in the victory. Long Island finished the season undefeated at 8-0, defeating its opponents by an average margin of 4.75 goals.

2. The Lake Placid Summit Classic also crowned scholastic division champions Wednesday. On the boys’ side, SweetLax National (2018-2019 Gold), Team 91 (2018-2019 Silver), FCA Elite (2020-2021 Gold) and Corning Gaffers (2020-2021 Silver) finished on top. On the girls’ side, Mass Elite Red (Girls 2018-2020) Golden Domers (Girls Northstar 2017-2020 Gold) and VA Metro 2021 (Girls 2021-2022) were the winners.

3. Devon Wills, the veteran U.S. women’s national team goalie, reflected on Team USA’s successful summer in the final entry of our “Mission Log” series.

4. Photos galleries featuring our favorite shots from the International World Games, US Lacrosse Nationals and UWLX semifinals were posted Wednesday.

5. Paintings, sculptures, and prints help to tell the lacrosse story in the latest edition of “Finn’s Finds,” a series highlighting the hidden gems of the US Lacrosse archives.

What We’re Reading

  • Or, more appropriately, what we’re hearing: “The Bachelorette” host Chris Harrison has a soft spot for lacrosse, as heard on the Baggataway Podcast.

  • Hofstra men’s lacrosse coach Seth Tierney, also an assistant on the 2018 U.S. men’s national team, inked a multi-year contract extension with the university.

  • Bullfighter Nate Jestes had a Division I lacrosse scholarship offer before instead earning an aviation degree from Montana State — and then fighting bulls, naturally.

  • The Bayhawks will miss MLL playoffs for the fourth straight season, but goalie Niko Amato is making the most of his time as a starter.

What We’re Watching

Mark Cockerton is a Canadian doing Canadian things for the Ohio Machine.

Remember this feature about an urban awakening for lacrosse in Cleveland? It is happening, thanks largely to the Lacrosse Communities Project, a US Lacrosse initiative.

What’s On Tap

  • The Denver Outlaws look to lock up the No. 1 seed in the MLL playoffs when they visit the Chesapeake Bayhawks at 7:30 p.m. Eastern.

  • Matt Hamilton chimes in from Russia, where he is embedded with the Mercer Island (Wash.) boys’ lacrosse team as it conducts clinics and participates in exhibitions.
