Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. The sports world made a powerful statement against racial injustice last night as numerous teams and leagues canceled games, including all three NBA playoff games.

Matt Holman of the EMW Foundation and national tournament director for the MCLA, continued a series of conversations on race in lacrosse last night. A great lineup of panelists included US Lacrosse CEO Steve Stenersen.

2. An anonymous donor has endowed the head women’s lacrosse coaching position at Princeton, recognizing the contributions of National Lacrosse Hall of Fame coach Chris Sailer.

3. Lauren Davenport, manager of athlete development for US Lacrosse, with a strong essay on the importance of building relationships to help people from different races better understand each other.

Davenport writes, “Having time and genuine moments to build relationships goes a long way, especially when we make space to learn about the person in front of us, for the other person to be themselves and to allow the interactions with the person to fill in gaps instead of making up our own information.”

4. David Vatz of Inside Lacrosse caught up with several U.S. women’s national team players and coaches as they train for next summer’s world championship in unusual circumstances.

5. Jada Foy, a goalie from Orlando who graduated from the University of the District of Columbia, one of the few Historically Black Colleges and Universities to field a varsity lacrosse program, in 2020. In the latest IWLCA “Behind the Whistle” blog, the new assistant coach at Albertus Magnus shares her struggles with being one of the few Black players in her lacrosse experience and her thoughts on what the sport can do to improve.

6. Dr. Richard Hinton and U.S. national team strength and conditioning coach Jay Dyer share some tips on returning to play in the COVID-19 era in a video produced in conjunction with US Lacrosse partner MedStar Sports Medicine.
