1. The Team USA Fall Classic is coming to Baltimore, and it’s absolutely stacked.
Some of the world’s best teams — the men’s and women’s U.S. and Canadian national teams, as well as NCAA champions Maryland women’s lacrosse and Virginia men’s lacrosse — will compete at Fall Classic running from Oct. 18-20. The U.S. U15 and U17 Select teams will also matchup with teams from Ontario. The schedule of events will come soon, so stay tuned.
2. The Chesapeake Bayhawks have stars like Lyle Thompson, Colin Heacock, Steele Stanwick and Niko Amato leading the way, but role players are helping to fuel the run to first place.
Midseason pickups like John Wagner, Andrew Kew and Shane Simpson have stepped up to help the Bayhawks in their push to the postseason.
3. Syracuse legend Kevin Donahue, the former player and coach for more than 30 years, announced his retirement on Wednesday. Donahue will step down from his position as an assistant but will serve as a volunteer.
Donahue was Roy Simmons Jr.’s initial First Team All-American as a player, and he was a part of 10 NCAA titles as an assistant coach with the Orange. The lacrosse community shared kind words for Donahue as he heads into retirement.
