Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Division I isn’t the only path to the pros and Max Adler and Drew Simoneau are the proof. The small college standouts will face off in the MLL championship game Saturday.
Simoneau, who went to Division III Nazareth, won 24 of 31 faceoffs in Dallas’ 15-12 victory over New York. Meanwhile, Adler, who went to Division II Bentley, won 21 of 29 faceoffs in Denver’s 13-12 win over Chesapeake.
“It just shows how much lacrosse is growing and how much talent there is,” Adler said. “I don’t think the talent drop-off from Division I to Division II to Division III is that big. It really depends on how hard you’re willing to work.”
2. Gabby and Livy Rosenzweig are just the third sister duo in the last 20 years to be named All-Americans in the same season at different Division I schools.
In 2018, Gabby finished her sophomore year with a school record-tying 85 points at Penn, while Livy was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Year after tallying a school-record 102 points at Loyola.
“They’re giving themselves the name, but they’re not selfishly doing it,” said said Jaime Pryschlak, who coached both at Somers (N.Y.) High. “Their hard work is paying off."
