Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. No. 5 Adelphi got the best of No. 8 NYIT, winning a Long Island battle 9-7 to improve to 13-2 on the season. The Panthers got two goals from four different players to hold off a late run from the Bears.

Gerard Cunningham scored twice in the first half to help Adelphi take a 3-2 halftime lead. NYIT responded to tie the game early in the third quarter, but Adelphi scored five of six goals to take a 9-5 lead in the fourth quarter.

The Bears scored twice in the final six minutes of the game, but couldn’t pull all the way back. Adelphi outshot NYIT 39-36 in the game, and won 14 of 18 faceoffs.

Also in action on Wednesday night:

• No. 1 Bates continued its undefeated season with a 24-10 victory over Colby. Bates becomes the first team in NESCAC history to finish 10-0 conference play. (MD3)

• No. 8 Tufts lost its fourth straight game, falling to unranked Bowdoin 19-15. Brett Kujala finished with six goals and an assist to help Bowdoin pull the upset. (MD3)

• No. 6 Cortland got past Oswego 11-10 behind a Nate Beresovoy overtime goal. (MD3)

2. Michael Sowers and Jeff Teat will face off this weekend in one of the most unique matchups in the history of the Princeton-Cornell rivalry. 

Sowers, who broke Rob Pannell’s Ivy League freshman record for points in a season (67), will go up against Teat, who sits in third all-time with 60 points.

3. The May/June edition of US Lacrosse Magazine dropped on Wednesday. It features the “Chasing Rings” package that includes stories on Team USA’s Devon Wills, Brooke Griffin, Michelle Tumolo, Ally Carey, Sarah Bullard and Laura Zimmerman.

Also in the May/June edition of the magazine, members will find regional content specific to US Lacrosse’s efforts to grow the game in their area and a feature on the Evergreen wonder, Loyola’s Pat Spencer, and a “Give & Go” with Syracuse legend and coach Gary Gait.

4. Maryland goalie Megan Taylor is becoming more of a leader. With many players missing from last season — one in which Taylor won Big Ten Goaltender of the Year — she had to step up for her teammates.

As a result, she’s become one of the most vocal players on the team. She’s also upped her game, leading the country with a 55.8 save percentage.

“She is one of the most happy-go-lucky, fun, sweet, light-hearted, great spirited people out there,” coach Cathy Reese said. “She is down to earth and really tries to enjoy every moment. She puts a smile on everyone’s face around her. She’s a really special person.”

5. The Saskatchewan Rush have a special bond with GM-coach Derek Keenan, who has helped the team compete for a potential NLL three-peat. 

Keenan became the winningest coach in the regular season in NLL history when the Rush beat the Toronto Rock 15-10 last Saturday.

WHAT WE’RE READING

• Hampton men's lacrosse conducted a two-hour instructional clinic last weekend for more than 100 kids through Charm City Lacrosse.

• Johns Hopkins coach Dave Pietramala described Blue Jays attackman Shack Stanwick's injury status as "day to day" after he sat out the second half of the win over Michigan last week.

• Towson is eager to get rid of the bad taste left after the loss to Fairfield last weekend. It'll have a chance to bounce back against No. 9 Hofstra at home on Saturday.

• Villanova is surprising many this lacrosse season, and much of the turnaround can be credited to senior defenseman Danny Sweeney and attackman Jack Curran.

• Goalie Liz Hogan give us her '20 Things I Wish I Had Known Before My Senior Day'

• Syracuse senior Ryan Simmons has a long family history with the Orange lacrosse program, but he's ready to stamp his name into the storied program's lore.

• The Emmaus and Southern Lehigh boys lacrosse teams will hold their second Relentless Hope Cancer Awareness Night on Thursday in support of the HEADstrong Foundation.

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING

Looks like we have another Quimby making waves in the lacrosse world. Guilderland's Connor Quimby, brother of Syracuse redshirt freshman Cara Quimby, scored this nice between-the-legs goal.

Colonial Athletic Association Commissioner Joe D'Antonio stopped by James Madison practice to present the regular season championship trophy to the Dukes.

WHAT’S ON TAP

•  We have some great women's games on tap for Thursday, headlined by No. 1 Maryland traveling to face No. 12 Northwestern on Big Ten Network. Also in action is No. 2 North Carolina against Duke, No. 10 Syracuse battling Virginia Tech, No. 13 Virginia facing off with No. 16 Louisville and No. 14 Boston College against No. 15 Notre Dame all in the ACC tournament.
