Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Duke women's lacrosse needed a big win to help its NCAA tournament case (see women's bracketology this week). An ACC tournament matchup with Notre Dame was one of the final opportunities for the Blue Devils, and they made the most of it. Olivia Jenner scored the eventual game-winning goal, her career-high sixth, with just over four minutes remaining to give Duke the 14-13 victory and help it advance to the ACC semifinals.
Duke's next opponent? North Carolina, which got record-breaking performances from Jamie Ortega and Katie Hoeg to down Virginia Tech 19-9. Ortega set the tournament record with eight goals and 12 points, while Hoeg's six assists set a new tournament mark.
On the other side of the bracket, Boston College dispatched of Louisville behind hat tricks from Cara Urbank and Jordan Lappin. The Eagles will face Syracuse, which led by as many as seven goals and survived a late rally to down Virginia 12-10. Emily Hawryschuk had four goals for the Orange.
In small college action, No. 1 Le Moyne got a game-winning goal from Bryanna Fazio with less than three minutes left to down No. 3 Adelphi 8-7.
Also on Wednesday, the NCAA Women's Lacrosse committee released its top 10, with Maryland at No. 1 and Boston College sitting behind. Check out the full list below.
2. The PLL was breaking news again on Wednesday. Just hours after hosting the inaugural College Draft, the league named Philadelphia the site of its championship game.
The PLL title game will head to Talen Energy Stadium on Sept. 21. The news ties together the schedule for the inaugural season, which you can see here.
3. As for the MLL, the league concluded its Player Relocation phase, announcing the addition of 50 players to rosters for the 2019 season.
The Player Relocation process came about after the league ceased operations of the Florida Launch, Charlotte Hounds and Ohio Machine.
4. Adam Charalambides is back on the field and he couldn't be happier. The Rutgers star missed two straight seasons due to separate torn ACLs, but he’s healthy and contributing for a Scarlet Knights team that is in the thick of the Big Ten tournament race.
