Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. No. 2 Boston College got everything it could handle from No. 20 Dartmouth in the second half of a Nike/US Lacrosse Women's Top 20 showdown yesterday, finally outlasting the visiting Big Green, 13-10, to improve to 15-0.

The Eagles nearly surrendered all of an 11-5 halftime lead, and Dartmouth held BC without a goal for a stretch of 24:52 surrounding halftime. The Big Green scored five straight, including two by Campbell Brewer, to close within one with 9:48 remaining. Finally, Dempsey Arsenault and Sam Apuzzo punctuated their respective hat tricks to help the Eagles stave off defeat.

In another good non-conference game between nationally ranked foes, No. 19 Navy upset No. 11 Virginia, 16-13, in Annapolis, Md. The matchup featured some brilliant individual performances. Kelly Larkin scored four goals and Julia Collins tallied three goals and four assists to lead the Mids, which had to survive virtually a one-woman show by Sammy Mueller. The Virginia midfielder corralled seven draws, scored six goals and had one assist in the losing effort.

Liberty set a program record with its 10th win, achieved via a 22-7 defeat of Longwood in which Kayla Foster dished out a school-record and 2018 national single-game high 10 assists. High Point won its 10th consecutive game. Taylor Mitchell scored the game-tying and game-winning goals in Fairfield's 11-10 overtime win over Quinnipiac.

2. The lone Division I game on the men's side was a doozy, No. 14 Notre Dame scored twice in the last minute to stun Marquette, 7-6,  and deny in heart-wrenching fashion the Golden Eagles' first win in the series.

Notre Dame's Austin Gaiss forced a Nick Singleton turnover with just over a minute to play. The Irish called timeout and set up Bryan Costabile's unassisted goal to tie the game at 6 with 42 seconds left. Notre Dame won the ensuing faceoff and again called timeout, and Ryder Garnsey tallied the game-winner with 15 seconds to play courtesy of an assist from Pierre Byrne.

The bracket allows for 13 at-large teams. We crunch the numbers, analyze who's got the inside track to joining the 14 automatic qualifiers, and project the tournament field. The stretch drive for May Madness represents an exciting time of the season each year.

4. Mitch Belisle, who plays for the Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse and recently retired from the 2017 National Lacrosse League champion Georgia Swarm, authored a guest column on the Proverlap.

While only a minority of players experience the overlap of the NLL and MLL seasons, those players represent the stars of the pro level, wrote Belisle. He's currently vice president of sales and marketing at Trilogy Lacrosse.

5. Kayla Treanor, who helped the 2017 U.S. women's team win gold medals at the FIL World Cup and IWGA World Games, shared tips for getting out of a double team.

Treanor experienced plenty of those during her three-time IWLCA Attacker of the Year and first-team All-American career at Syracuse. She's currently an assistant coach at Boston College.

6. Coaches in the US Lacrosse Women's Collegiate Lacrosse Associates released their latest polls yesterday for Divisions I and II.

Defending Division I champion Delaware Club is on the march, having won three games in the last week to improve to 8-0 and rise to No. 7. The Blue Hens join No. 1 Michigan Club (13-0) as the only unbeatens.

In Division II, Denver Club, Loyola Club and Air Force remain 1-2-3, respectively, and Providence supplanted SMU at No. 4. The WCLA regular season concludes this week. US Lacrosse expects to release the fields for the May 9-12 national championships Wednesday.
